Ep. 34 - Welcome Back...

It's a long one today.  We apologize for all the background noise.  We'll have to close the windows next time around!

Our Current Fix:
Michele is trying to wrestle her Rikke hat WiP out of Marigold Jen DK.
Jill finished her Inara Wrap by Ambah O'Brien in Artyarns Milano Fade.  She also finished her BB-8 amigurumi, using BB-8 inspired by Star Wars: The Force Awakens by Casey Barnes out of Red Heart Super Saver in White, Grey Heather and Cascade 220 in orange.  She did a few rows on her Banded Lace Pullover by Traci Bunkers.  She is frantically working on her Amille shawl by Emily Ross in Tosh Lace Oceana for the Ravellenic Games. Her project page here.

What We're Jonesing For:
Michele has rediscovered the Pterotactyl shawl by Marc Smollin.  She likes the Welcome Back Garter stole by Casapinka.  She found an edging modification to the Half Granny Square Shawl by Anastacia Zittel that made her want to make another one (can't find the mod to link!).  A similar pattern is the Wearever Wrap by Heather Walpole.
Jill is looking through her Joji Locatelli patterns for the Joji Fall KAL starting August 15.  She could knit Recoleta, Imagine When or Fine Tune.  She has a couple new favorite shawl patterns: the Rookwood by Mindy Wilkes and the Good Vibes shawl by Nadia Cretin-Lechenne.  There's a cute, giant, free scrubby pattern, the School of Fish Scrubbies by Michele Wilcox.

Re-ups:
Bee Mice Elf BFL gradient set in Beachcomber and SW Merino/Merino/Silk gradient set in Wine Mixer.
Malabrigo Mechita in Lotus
Woolfolk Sno in No.01+02
Bumblebirch Forage in Cranberry

Our Current Fix:
Michele is enjoying working on her Rikke hat out of Marigold Jen DK Pascal.
Jill is working on her Inara Wrap still by Ambah O'Brien out of Artyarns Milano Fade in Malachite and Hematite.  She also started a crochet BB-8 from Star Wars: The Force Awakens using the BB-8 Crochet Pattern by Casey Barnes.  She's using stash Red Heart Super Saver and Cascade 220.

What We're Jonesing For:
Michele wants to make blankets!  She loves the Baby Chalice Blanket by Karen S. Lauger  She's also looking at the Virus Blanket by Jonna Martinez and Bubble Stitch Blanket by Pamela Spath.  She's also into the Noro Topper by Brian Smith.
Jill loves the Owen's Opossum by Sara Elizabeth Kellner.  She's into the asymmetrical shawlette, Latticework, by Rosemary (Romi) Hill.  She also likes the older hat, Konglelua by Ingvall Freland.

The Ravellenic Games is upon us!  Chat in our group, or join us in Team Sasquatch!  Michele is going to do WIP Wrestling.  Jill plans on making the Amille shawl by Emily Ross with Madeline Tosh Lace in Oceana.  The Games begin August 5 in your timezone!

Ep. 32 - Talk Gooey to Me

Our Current Fix:
Michele has started her Rikke hat in MarigoldJen DK Weight BFL (her Rav page here). Michele used a video from Knittables (Knitabulls?) about garter stitch in the round.  Jill couldn't find it to link here, so here's a different tutorial.
Jill finished her newborn Aviatrix hat by Justine Turner in Nerd Girl Yarns Clever (her project page here).  She is still working on the #15 Banded Lace Pullover by Traci Bunkers from Vogue Spring/Summer 2016 in Cascade Avalon.  She is 30% through her Inara Wrap by Ambah O'Brien out of two Artyarns Milano Fade gradients in Hematite Fade and Malachite Fade.

What We're Jonesing For:
Michele is into the 3-in-1 sweater and  the Stripes with a Twist pattern, both by atelier alfa.  Michele also likes the Gunmetal Shawlette by Mam'zelle Flo (which reminds Jill of patterns by busylittlemonkey) and A Little of This, a Little of That crocheted shawl by Teri DiLibero.
Jill has bought some Ysolda Teague patterns: Wee Carson and the Rhinebeck Sweater book.  She wants to make Pumpkin Ale, Aunt Fred and Jenny at the Fair.  She also like the Manatee pattern by Rachel Borello Carroll.  Also check out her other Yarnigans patterns, including the Dutch Rabbits and Marisol the Knitted Mouse.

Ep. 31 - All The Colors

There is a bit of explicit language towards the end.  Apologies!

Finished Items:
Michele has finished her Clincher!  She used Spun Right Round in Trainyard and Knit Picks Stroll Brights in Pucker.  She also finished her Easy Crochet Dishcloth by Cheri Mancini.
Jill finished a Striped Elf Hat by Anna Daku using Lang Mille Colori in fluorescent colors.

Our Current Fix:
Jill was just casting on an Aviatrix baby hat by Justine Turner in her leftover Nerd Girl yarn.  She has been consistently working on her Sophie's Universe by Dedri Uys in Knit Picks Brava.  She is partway through a summer top, the #15 Banded Lace Pullover by Traci Bunkers from the Vogue Spring/Summer 2016 in Cascade Avalon in a light blue color.
Michele is still working on her baby blanket out of Red Heart with Love. The pattern is the Crocheted Starburst Baby Blanket.

What We're Jonesing For:
Michele loves this crochet blanket by SymonAngel.  She is debating starting the Katie Earflap Hat by Justine Walley out of Vanna's Choice or maybe knitting a Rikke hat out of her Marigold Jenn yarn.
Jill is looking at silly crochet patterns.  She wants the Creature Feetures book published by Lark Crafts.  She has also downloaded free patterns for the Snoopy Happy Dance Hat by Sarah Zimmerman and the Bumble Hat (Abominable Snowman Rudolf) by Rachel Solberg.  She also likes two new patterns by Justyna Lorkowska, the Close to You shawl (featuring Martin's Lab yarn) and the Ennui shawl from Knitty.

Ep. 30 - Soylent Green Is People!

Ep. 30 - Soylent Green is People!

What We've Finished:
Jill finished a Purl Soho Garter Earflap Hat out of gnarledpaw Proper DK in Mexican Blue Wing Butterfly colorway with a little tiny pompon on top (rav page here).  She made an Adama scowl by Hilary Smith Callis out of handspun from Black Bunny Fibers BFL in Meadows (rav page here).

She made a shawlette for a friend who was moving away using the Evanthe pattern by Corrina Ferguson and gnawledpaw Splendid Sock in Grey Gardens (Rav page here).  She also made a Sitka Spruce hat by tincan knits for Michele's birthday out of Malabrigo Rios in Purple Mystery.

Our Current Fix:
Michele is deciding to rip out her Arrowhead Socks by Renee Leverington in MarigoldJen DK Weight yarn in the Pascal colorway, because she'd rather make the Cowlicious by Nicole Vaughn or the Rikke Hat.  She is getting to the end of her Clincher out of Spun Right Round in Trainyard and Knit Picks Stroll Brights in Pucker (her rav page here).  She is also crocheting a washcloth out of Peaches and Cream cotton yarn in Fruit Punch and the Easy Crocheted Dishcloth pattern by Cheri Mancini.
Jill has gone back to working on her Sophie's Universe crochet blanket out of Knit Picks Brava Worsted by Dedri Uys.  She is more than halfway there.  Her Rav page here.  She also started a baby hat using the Striped Elf Hat by Anna Daku out of Lang Mille Colori Baby in fluorescent colors.
She also started spinning some natural dyed wool to potentially make an Elizabeth Zimmerman Fair Isle Yoked Caridgan, while demonstrating at the Heritage Square Museum in Los Angeles.

What We're Jonesing For:
Michele is loving a couple non-Ravelry items. One is the Angus the Crocheted Gnome on pinterest (aka Cute Crochet Gnome by Amber Simmons on Ravelry), and also the Charlotte Split Brim Slouchy Hat by pixiebell.
Jill wants to knit the Herbarium shawl by Lisa Hannes (maliha designs).  She bought the Sight is Life ebook that will have 8 accessories patterns and 100% of the proceeds go to mission work in Congo for cataracts surgery.

Ep. 29 - Hells Yeah, Solvang

Episode 29!  Thanks for listening everyone!

Our Current Fix:
Jill has finished her Route 99 turban by Lee Meredith.  She used Koigu KPPPM and Knit Picks Bare Hare.

Michele has been working on her Crocheted Starburst Baby Blanket.  She pulled out the Clincher by Ash Kearns again!  This is out of Spun Right Round in Trainyard.
Jill asks Michele for advice about her Regina hat by Carina Spencer.  She is probably going to try to find another contrast yarn for her Malabrigo Rios Purple Mystery.  She has started the Adama Cowl by Hilary Smith Callis out of Black Bunny Fibers BFL handspun in Meadows green.

What We're Jonesing For:
Michele has lots of hats and cowls that she wants to make!  They include the Drawstring Slouch by Kim Miller, Tara Fair Isle Hat by Country Pine Designs, House Colors Hat by Lion Brand Yarn, and three cowls by Laura Aylor: Tuck, Butterscotch and Brightside.  She also wants to make more Easy Crocheted Dishcloths by Cheri Mancini.  You should join the Annual Dishcloth Swap (Rav group here)!
Jill likes the Scheepjes CAL 2016 "Last Dance on the Beach" crocheted blanket.  It was designed by Marinke Slump and the Scheepjes Bloggers.  She likes the Sweet Seventeen shawl by Katin Schubert.  Despite her hatred of seagulls, she loves the Charadriiformes cowl by Sara Huntington Burch.

Ep. 28 - I'm from Los Angeles

We're back!  We've missed you!

Our Current Fix:
Jill finished a bunch of stuff over the last month.  She made two sets of Knitted Knockers out of Cascade Ultra Pima (Rav page here).  She finished the Stoney Brook Top by Rusty Baker out of Knit Picks Hawthorne Fingering in the Belmont colorway (Rav page here).  She knit a Bunny Beanie by Noe Knit out of Blue Sky Alpacas Worsted Cotton and Red Heart Creme de la Creme for Kimberly from the Twisted Stitches podcast (Rav page here).  She also finished a Peasleeville hat by Melissa LaBarre out of Rowan Lima in the Aztec colorway with a Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Astrakhan pompom.

Jill is working on an adult Garter Ear Flap Hat by Purl Soho out of Gnarledpaw Proper DK in Mexican Blue Wing Butterfly.  She is also working on the Route 99 hat/turban by Lee Meredith from the Stranded Magazine: Warm Weather 2016 in KPPPM in pink and KP Bare Hare. Michele asked about a previous turban and that was the Knit Yourself a Turban (Moss Stitch) pattern.

What We're Jonesing For:
Michele wants to be knitting anything!  She recommends Breathing Space by Veera Valimaki for Jill.
Jill has queued Ondawa by Michele Wang from the Brooklyn Tweed 14 Collection based on seeing suskyre's version of it at the retreat.  She is into the Venn cowl by Ella Austin from the Colour and Line collection.  She also finally bought a Northbound Knitting pattern, Diaemus shawl by Lisa Mutch.
