Ep. 12 - It Was In Tents

Episode 12 is live!

Our Current Fix:
Michele is stiiilll knitting on Clincher.  She has swatched for the Saturn Sweater.
Jill is close to finishing 22 Leaves Shawlette and is 8 inches into her Downton Pullover.  They are both for the FIFO CAL.  She finished her Spun Right Round BFL in Koi.

What We're Jonesing For:
Michele is looking at washcloth patterns to make for her coworkers.  Circle Point Washcloth by Glamour4You is a good candidate.  It is the crochet version of the Almost Lost Washcloth pattern.
Jill is wanting to make all the things.  She is looking at Joji Locatelli patterns for the Joji Fall KAL.  She might make the Jenica Hoodie in Cascade Eco +.  Or maybe buy the Imagine When shawl pattern.  She wants to make Merrick, the Elephant Man soon.  He is disgusting and adorable.  She has also been loving the new Vogue Fall 2015.  Her favorites are the #05 Seamless Cap by Audrey Knight, #12 Cocoon Vest by Theresa Schabes and the #26 Segmented Shawl by Michael Dworjan.

First-In-First-Out Craft-a-Long:
We have some prizes for the CAL!  We will have a copy of the Wild Goose Shawlette by Paula Emons-Fuessle to give away.  (She gave us a copy to review, not to test, I mispoke!).  Also, a pattern of your choice from Olga Wedbjer Rambell (O-Knit).  Or a pattern of your choice from Marlene Sigel (mkarylknits).

Ep. 11 - The Californians

Michele and Jill talk about what streets they took to get to the podcast.

Our Current Fix:
Jill finished her Redfish Dye Works 80/20 Merino/Silk 2-ply spinning:
She is now onto a 4oz braid of Spun Right Round BFL in the Koi colorway.  She has started the colorwork section for her Downton Pullover.  Her Rav page here. She cast on for the 22 Leaves Shawlette in MadTosh Merino Light in Coquette for her coworker.
Michele has only been working on her Clincher with Spun Right Round sock yarn.

What We're Jonesing For:
Michele is still working on finding her crochet sweater project for the FIFO craft-a-long.  She found the magazine that has the Stripey Spring Cardi by Mari Lynn Patrick.  She also bought Knit Picks Swish DK for the Saturn Sweater by Linda Permann.
Jill has a few new sweater favorites.  She likes the Dark Rainbow Sweater by Emma Welford from the knit.purl Fall/Winter 2015 magazine.  She loves but probably won't make the Painted Desert poncho by Carol Sunday.  Colorwork poncho!  She's queued the Yellow Gold Pullover by Linda Marveng in the Interweave Fall 2015.

Come join us for our First-In-First-Out Craft-a-long!  Pick a pattern or yarn that you've been wanting to work with for a long time but keep putting off!  We started the CAL on August 1 and will be going until October 1.  Plenty of time to get a project started and finished!

Episode 10 is up!

Gross roommates, James Bond and some knitting!

That is my side of the tiny dorm room on the left, and her side on the right.  Taken from different angles.

Our Current Fix:
Jill has finished the Kitefish Shawlette by Leah Coccari-Swift.  Her Ravelry page is here, but she needs pictures!
She tried swatching for Oblique Motion by Jennifer Thompson in Knit Picks Stroll.  She also swatched for Leif by Nick Davis in Gnawled Paw Splendid Sock.  She realized she didn't have enough Palette for her Paper Dolls pullover.  But she finally started the Downton Pullover by Amy Keefer from the Interweave Knits Fall 2012 magazine in Knit Picks Capretta in Pesto and KP Bare Hare.
Michele has finished two Easy Crocheted Dishcloths from the pattern by Cheri Mancini in Sugar 'n' Cream and Peaches 'n' Cream cotton.  She also made a hat from the Vanna's Tapestry in Peru using the Easy Slouchy Hat pattern.  Her Rav page is here.

What We're Jonesing For:
Michele is making plans for the Saturn Sweater by Linda Permann from Interweave Crochet Fall 2012 out of Knit Picks Swish.  She could also do the Bistro Shawlette for the Craft-a-long.
Jill doesn't have anything she's jonesing for after all that swatching.

Ep. 9 - Musk

We have finished things!  And discuss different cultural tastes.  There is one swear word and talk about hyena anatomy.  Children, beware.

Acquisitions:
Jill bought a surfing cat project bag from BirdLegBags.  Michele bought a bunch of acrylic from Jo-Ann's including Red Heart with Love and Vanna's Choice Tapestry.

Our Current Fix:
Jill has finished her Hitofude Cardigan!  Her Rav page here.  She also started and finished her Aurelia Cowl by Hilary Smith Callis out of Noro Silk Garden Sock yarn.  She needs to have modeled Fall pictures taken of the cowl.  She has been continuing on her Sophie's Universe CAL blanket and still spinning the Red Fish Dye Works Merino/Silk roving.
Michele has woven in the ends on her Mielie Vest.  She also started and finished the Hadley Button Slouch Hat by Justine Walley in Red Heart Fiesta.  She is working on her Clincher again too.

What We're Jonesing For:
Michele has been buying up all of Justine Walley's hat patterns.  Her etsy shop is here.
Jill is going to start the Kitefish Shawlette by Leah Coccari-Swift in Madtosh Sock in Cosmic Wander Dust if she can decide on a contrast color.

First In First Out Craft-a-long:
The Craft-a-long will be starting August 1 in our Ravelry Group!
Jill is thinking about making either the Sleeveless Tuxedo Shirt by Theresa Schabes or the #11 Flowered Belt Camisole by Mari Lynn Patrick.  Or maybe the Beatnik by Norah Gaughan.
Michele is thinking about the Stripey Spring Cardigan also by Mari Lynn Patrick, which is a crochet cardigan.  Or maybe she'd use some yarn from Unwind Yarn Company for a shawl.

Uppers and Downers:
Michele is so excited about the new Harper Lee book, Go Set a Watchman.  There is also a new Judy Blume book, In the Unlikely Event.  And coloring books for adults! Such as, the Secret Garden book.

Ep. 8 - Bastille Day

Join us to talk International holidays and more!

Our Current Fix:
Jill is almost done working on the Hitofude Cardigan. She is moving forward on her Melody Miller Mustang Quilt.  There are lots of problems with the pattern given that she is a beginning quilter.  She is also spinning some 80/20 Merino/Tussah Silk from Redfish Dyeworks.
Michele wasn't sure if she was done with her Mielie vest, but has decided it doesn't need pockets.  It is now done except for putting on the snaps, weaving in the ends and blocking.

Michele's new Red Heart Fiesta yarn (the orange one)!

What We're Jonesing For:
Michele loves the Safety Scarf by Stephen West and wants to make it in the same colors.
Jill is still thinking of the Colors of Fall KAL, and is thinking about either the Oblique Motion by Jennifer Thompson or the Aurelia Cowl by Hilary Smith Callis.

The First In First Out Craft-a-Long:
We'll be starting a craft-a-long on August 1.  It's time to rekindle the flame with your first queued patterns/stashed yarns, etc!  Justify why your project meets the requirements.  It doesn't have to be your very first queued or favorited pattern, but it should be an early one.

Ep. 7 - Do What the Pattern Says

Ep. 7 is up!  Lots of food talk.

Our Current Fix:
Jill is past the sleeves on her Hitofude cardigan.  She is still loving her Sophie's Universe CAL blanket.  She started cutting fabric for the Mustang Quilt by Melody Miller.

Michele is working on the button bands of her Mielie Vest.  She is frustrated with it, but is making progress!

What We're Jonesing For:
Michele wants to make a crocheted blanket out of Red Heart Super Saver.  She loves these color combinations at The Crochet Crowd.
Jill is trying to find yarn in her stash to match the Pantone 2015 Fall colors for the Yarniacs Podcast Colors of Fall KAL. If her Elsebeth Lavold Silky Wool matches Dried Herb she might make a Sprig pullover by Alana Dakos.  She also wants to make the 6" Yin Yang Paisley Dish.

Join us for Episode 6!

Our Current Fix:
Michele is almost done with her Mielie Vest by Hilary Smith Callis.
Jill is working on the Hitofude Cardigan (her Rav page) by Hiroko Fukatsu in KP Lindy Chain in Blush.  She is also on Round 32 of Sophie's Universe CAL.  She has finished her Cerise Curl by Hunter Hammerson, her Rav page is here.  She finished spinning her Imperial Stock Ranch 2-ply yarn.  She also made a cowl for Michele's birthday out of Malabrigo Worsted and Target Handmade Modern yarn.  She used the Whale Watch Hat pattern and modified it for thicker yarn and to make it a cowl.

What We're Jonesing For:
Michele is pretty obsessed with the Ugly Duckling sock pattern.
Jill is admiring the Grace Clutch by Julie Grantz LeFrancois from KnitScene Accessories 2015.  She also likes the Baa-ble Hat by Donna Smith.

We drew winners for the two contests!  Lizardbabies was the winner of the project bag for helping Michele decide on a color of yarn for her Impression Vest.  Craftyland was the winner of the Handmade Modern yarn and project bag for our Target yarn contest.

Uppers and Downers:
Jill really enjoyed Mad Max: Fury Road.  She also read The Disaster Artist: My Life Inside the Room, the Greatest Bad Movie Ever by Greg Sestero and Tom Bissell.  It is an amazing behind-the-scenes look at The Room.  In the same vein, she recommends the R. Kelly masterpiece, Trapped in the Closet.
Michele loved Luckiest Girl Alive by Jessica Knoll.
