Ep. 8 - Bastille Day

Join us to talk International holidays and more!

Our Current Fix:
Jill is almost done working on the Hitofude Cardigan. She is moving forward on her Melody Miller Mustang Quilt.  There are lots of problems with the pattern given that she is a beginning quilter.  She is also spinning some 80/20 Merino/Tussah Silk from Redfish Dyeworks.
Michele wasn't sure if she was done with her Mielie vest, but has decided it doesn't need pockets.  It is now done except for putting on the snaps, weaving in the ends and blocking.

Michele's new Red Heart Fiesta yarn (the orange one)!

What We're Jonesing For:
Michele loves the Safety Scarf by Stephen West and wants to make it in the same colors.
Jill is still thinking of the Colors of Fall KAL, and is thinking about either the Oblique Motion by Jennifer Thompson or the Aurelia Cowl by Hilary Smith Callis.

The First In First Out Craft-a-Long:
We'll be starting a craft-a-long on August 1.  It's time to rekindle the flame with your first queued patterns/stashed yarns, etc!  Justify why your project meets the requirements.  It doesn't have to be your very first queued or favorited pattern, but it should be an early one.

Uppers and Downers, etc:
Oink Pigments
The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up by Marie Kondo
Game of Thrones on HBO
Paper Towns by John Green
The Short Happy Life of Francis Macomber by Ernest Hemingway
The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins

Michele wants to make a crocheted blanket out of Red Heart Super Saver.  She loves these color combinations at The Crochet Crowd.

Lots of knitting happening, and finally a Finished Object!

Jill went to the Valley Ford Wool Mill wool fest last weekend. She bought some BFL roving from BeesyBee Fibers. Right after podcasting she saw an ad for that Etsy shop and now she suspects that her computer is listening to every thing she says.  She also bought BFL roving from Bee Mice Elf at the Greater Los Angeles Spinning Guild meeting.  Also (!) she received her yarn from Gnarled Paw for the Leif shrug kit.

What We're Jonesing For:
Michele is obsessed with Jane Richmond and her Georgia cardigan.  She is in love with the Fleur Cardi by Svetlana Volkova as well as the rest of the Summer Spirit collection (20% until June 1!)

Jill has been trying to find a project for the Hand Made Modern yarn that Michele challenged her with.  Some potential patterns are: Ombre by ChemKnits, Blackberry Salad Striped Baby Bonnet by Tamara Kelly and the Windsor Hat by Karie Westermann.  Michele thinks she might use the Heart Fingerless Mitts pattern for her Target yarn.  Comment on the thread with another pattern idea and win your own set of yarns and a project bag.

Help Michele decide which color of KP Wool of the Andes to buy for her next vest project!
