Ep. 112 - Nothing Butthole Related

 Happy 2022!

Skeinenable Ep 112 : Skein Enable Podcast : Free Download, Borrow, and Streaming : Internet Archive

What I've Finished:

Jill has finished a number of things in the last few months.  For Halloween, she made a Barf John Candy costume for her daughter with knit fingerless driving gloves out of Knit Picks Essential Sock in Timber, embroidered name patch and needle-felted hairpiece.

Jill sewed a felt ornament using the Twelve Days of Christmas patterns by Larissa Holland of Mmmcrafts and Benzies wool blend felt.  She finished the #2 turtle dove ornament.  She also made a few more mittens for the Smitten Garland by Emily Ivey and decided that 12 mittens was enough for the garland.  Jill also made a couple hats for Starling including a fox hat from the Foxy & Wolfie hat by Ekaterina Filippova-Blanchard out of Cloudborn Fibers Superwash Merino DK (Rav page here) and Cellarium test knit by Rachel Illsley in Woolfolk SNO 01+02 (Rav page here).  She made two identical newborn Beloved bonnets by Tin Can Knits in Long Dog Yarns DK in New Growth for two new babies she knows.  Jill finished the test knit she did for Rabbit Hole Knits.  After months she's finished the Ephemeris mosaic shawl by Debra Gerhard out of Long Dog Yarn Bounce Sock in First Blush and Teal Torch Knits Sock in Good Til the Last Drop.  Her Rav page here.

My Current Fix:

Jill is finally finishing up the Posy cropped cardigan by Marzena Kolacek out of Invictus Yarns Unconquerable Sole BFL in the NoCKRs colorway.  She tried a couple crochet projects before Christmas and mostly abandoned them, the Hanging sloth planter by Hello Happy and Mr. Poopy Butthole by Ami Toys Handmade on Etsy.  She is planning on starting the Toddler Thrum Mitts by Steph Thomson.

What I'm Jonesing For:

Jill has quite a few recent favorites.  There are some accessories like the Snow Fern hat by Kalurah Hudson, the cabled cowl Honey Pie by Claire Slade, the stashbuster shawl Stripes on Stripes by All Knit Up Designs and the headband Emerald Twist by Susanna Winter.  She tried to find the Knit Now Issue 133, Sept 2021 issue that had the A Peanuts Christmas kit/pattern by Sachiyo Ishii.  She likes the sophisticated short rows sweater BANE by Emily Greene and the intarsia sweater Amina Sweater by Slyvia Watts-Cherry.  There's a cute little kid dress, Cowgirl Dress, by Anna and Heidi Pickles.  She also likes the Winding flowers stockings by Marinka van Puijenbroek.

Ep. 107 - To Each Their Own

Jill is getting close to her due date!  So baby project galore!

(Link to podcast host/stream here.)

Note: Project and pattern links are to Ravelry pages.

What I've Finished:

Jill completed the Compass crochet blanket by Buttonnose Crochet.  Her Rav page here.  She used Lion Brand Mandala in the Pixie colorway.  She used exactly two skeins.  She finished the Garter Earflap Hat from Purl Soho in the baby size, using Gnarled Paw Proper DK in Mexican Blue-Winged Butterfly.  Her Rav page here.  For her final spin for Tour de Fleece, she chain-plied the Greenwood Fiberworks Merino Superfine in the "Camo" OOAK colorway.  She ended up with about 379 yards of a fingering (not worsted like I said in the episode) 3-ply.  The Rav page for the yarn here.  She also made the Fingering Entrechat by Lisa Chemery (Frogginette Knits) out of Spun Right Round SW Sock in Combat boots & Baby doll dresses colorway.

My Current Fix:

Jill's working on the matching Fingering Entrechat Bonnet using the same Spun Right Round yarn, in the 0-3months size.  She's also making a Baby Yoda for Babies cardigan by Arianna Soloway for a friend out of Berroco Vintage in a taupe colorway doubled, and Craftsmart Value Economique in the sage colorway, also doubled for the hood.  Her Rav page here.  She first tried to use Knit Picks Chroma and Cloudborn Worsted held together for the hood.  She also did a little work on her Fox Paws by Xandy Peters.

What I'm Jonesing For:

Jill still has some plans for additional baby crafting.  She wants to sew burp cloths, breastfeeding nipple pads, and knit up some baby socks.  She is going to use the Embroidered Birds pattern from Arne & Carlos bird book in Knit Picks Palette for a baby mobile.  Jill wants to make the Rio Calina Cowl by Cat Bordhi.  Cat made the announcement about upcoming death on her blog.  The KAL hashtag is #4catbordhi.  Jill kind of wants to make the cowl out of purple and to make it as part of the emPower People project.  She's into the one-skein Amoretto shawl by Nadia Cretin-Lechenne.  She also bought the Pink Velvet pullover by Andrea Mowry as part of her birthday sale.

Re-Ups:

Jill bought some Romney from Goodie Supply Co. for the Greater Los Angeles Spinning Guild Spin-a-long in the Safer at Home colorway, and matching Safer at Home Tonal 5 (a mint color).  Jill also received the Tin Roof pattern by Yamagara from Melinda/Yarnderwoman.

American Wool/Viscose in Naked Bubblegum.  She got only about 254 yards of a bouncy fingering weight yarn.  Her Rav page here.

My Current Fix:
For the rest of Tour de Fleece, Jill has been working on 100% Superfine Merino from Greenwood Fiberworks in a "Camo" OOAK colorway.  Her Rav page here.  She's continuing with her long term project, the Fox Paws by Xandy Peters out of Knit Picks Palette.  She's plugging away at her crochet baby blanket, Compass by Buttonnose Crochet out of Lion Brand Mandala yarn in Pixie.  She's also started a Purl Soho Garter Ear Flap Hat in a baby size using Gnarled Paw Proper DK in the Mexican Blue Wing Butterfly colorway to match Lucas's hat.

What I'm Jonesing For:
Jill loves Festival of Stitches by Lisa Hannes, which was originally a Mystery KAL.  She's into the Hands cardigan by Chantal Belisle.  She also thinks it would be funny to make Facehugger by Neetza Drake for baby/maternity photos.  She likes two baby patterns, Genevieve's Tube Socks from Knitmore Girls and the Hope Romper Dress by Nomad Stitches.

Ep. 62 - Building Blocks of Fashion

Joining Jill for this episode is Ellen!  Ellen is Ellblo on Ravelry and Instagram.  You should check out her blog L.A. Is My Beat!

Finished projects:
Ellen got to show off her Belle Epoque Shawl by Kira Dulaney.  She used MadelineTosh Merino Light in Grasshopper from her friend Natalie and then added a burgundy color, Medieval of the Merino Light for the edging.  Her Rav page here.  She also added the same edging from the Belle Epoque, to a crochet shawl she had made in the past using the Klamath pattern by Sarah Kukuchek.  The original shawl was in Berroco Boboli yarn and the edging is in a bright orange Shibui Lace Weight yarn.  Ellen made a wonderful version of the G.G. Cardigan by Nadia Fuad that was inspired by a $2,800 granny square coat by Rosetta Getty worn by Gigi Hadid.  Her Rav page here

Ellen likes to combine knitting and crochet.  She uses a top-down formula, similar to the February Lady Sweater by Pamela Wynn and then crochets the body and sleeves.  An example is her Noro-Brigo Cardigan.  She made a great cover for her ukulele strap out of crochet!
Jill finished some crochet baby booties using the Hammerhead Sharks booties pattern by Kristi Simpson.  She used some RYC DK superwash yarn and Knit Picks Stroll Sport in white.  Her Rav page here.  Jill also finished spinning some Merino/Silk/Bamboo from BJS Fiber Creations in a fall colorway.

Our Current Fix:
Jill is only working on her Zweig sweater by Caitlin Hunter out of Malabrigo Sock in Persia and Pearl.  She is hoping to finish before the Olympics start!  Her Rav page is here.
Ellen is crocheting another Virus Shawl. This one is using Trendsetter Yarns "Smoothies"  It is a gradient yarn but it is challenging to crochet with because of the multiple untwisted strands.  Her Rav page here.

What We're Jonesing For:
Jill is into the Saltwater Bay cardigan by Amy Christoffers from Knitty, Winter 2017.  She thinks the Owlentines by Rachel Borello Carroll is cute and timely for Valentine's Day.  Since we're talking crochet, she recently queued The Adirondack Wrap by ChiWei Ranck.
Ellen has a Valentine's project in mind as well, the A Hearty Hello Shawl by Fionitta.com, a triangular shawl in filet-crochet.  She also likes the Ribbie Taiyo Scarf by Megan Delorme.  She is also inspired by a picture of an amazing crochet top with a giant eyeball across the front and granny stripes.

I had Lisa and Eve as guests this time around!  You might remember Eve from Michele's previous podcast, Skein After Skein.

Finished Items:
Eve had recently finished a crochet basket, that she modified greatly from another pattern.  She made several cute fake fur hats using the pattern Jake and Lizzy by Heidi Yates.  One of her Rav pages is here.  Jill finished a Foxy and Wolfie hat by Ekaterina Blanchard.  She used Cloudborn Superwash DK in orange and cream.

Our Current Fix:
Eve is working on a chemo cap using the Madeline's Cap pattern by Knots of Love.  Lisa is working on a cute little sewn felt animal from Tubby Wubby.  She also showed us her zipper pouch sewn using cork.
Jill is making her way through Summer Vibes by Lesley Anne Robinson out of Queensland Uluru.  She is also still working on the Kusha Kusha scarf using Habu Stainless Steel/Silk and Merino.  She spun up some .5 oz little nests of Targhee/Bamboo/Silk fiber from Goodie Supply Company.  Jill is going to use the handspun yarn to knit up embroidered birds from Arne & Carlos's Field Guide to Knitted Birds.  She also finally basted her quilt!

What We're Jonesing For:
Jill is into the Lavia pullover by Katrin Schneider.  She bought the pattern for the Zweig pullover by Caitlin Hunter.  She's also into the mix & shake hat by Svetlana Volkova.

Ep. 51 - Occasion for Cat Stuff for real this time

Here's the actual Ep. 51!  I full on skipped a major step last time...

Finished Items:
Jill finished her Laura's Leaves shawl by Emily K. Williams.  She used One Twisted Tree Prime Fingering in Acid Peacock.  Her Rav page here.

My Current Fix:
Jill is working on her Sous Sous pullover by Norah Gaughan out of Malabrigo Arroyo in Plomo.  She also started her Wonder Woman Wrap by Carissa Browning using Koigu KPM in a blue color and Knit Picks Gloss Fingering in Honey.

What I'm Jonesing For:
Jill bought the Foxy & Wolfie pattern by Ekaterina Filippova-Blanchard (KatyTricot).  She likes the Soleie A vintage cardigan by Anne B. Hanssen.  She is tempted by the Briocheluscious shawl by Andrea Mowry.  For crochet, she likes The Durban Spice Girls square by Jen Tyler and the Juna the mini unicorn by Little Bichons (as well as her Malo the mini bear).  Jill got the Field Guide to Knitted Birds book by Arne & Carlos.  She really wants to make the embroidered birds for a wall hanging.

Episode 3 - Postponed by Grossness

Lots of traveling chatting before the knitting content.  Knitting starting around 15 minutes in.  So sorry for the delay guys!  We'll try to stay on schedule!

Current Fix:
Michele hasn't been knitting much but is still working on her Mielie Vest by Hilary Smith Callis and Clincher by Ash Kearns.

Jill is working on the Crazy Stripes Tee by atelier Al-fa in Malabrigo Sock.  She also started a Cerise curl from the Curls book by Hunter Hammerson out of Araucania Atacama.  She is also four clues into the Sophie's Universe CAL blanket out of Knit Picks Brava.

What We're Jonesing For:
Jill has picked some vest patterns for Michele's next project.  She suggests the Impression Vest by Meghan Jones, Napoleon by Berroco, Sexxxy Librarian by Lilith Ubbelohde, Loro Vest by Cirilia Rose and the Vine Lace Vest by Cecily Glowik MacDonald.  Michele is most excited about the Impression Vest.

Jill is obsessing over complicated shawl patterns.  She has some Madtosh Merino Light she just purchased to make Oceania by Kieran Foley.  She is also still thinking about making Fox Paws by Xandy Peters in Knit Picks Palette.

Highs/Lows (Uppers and Downers?):
We mentioned some books.  Sea Biscuit by Laura Hillenbrand, Catch-22 by Joseph Heller for Jill.  In the Garden of Beasts by Eric Larsen, The Martian by Andy Weir for Michele.

The KnitScene styling we mentioned:
